Arusha National Park

Last Saturday, mom and I went on a safari!  Even though this is my 3rd time in Tanzania, it was actually my first time on a safari, so it was definitely a big deal.  The boys stayed home, since Edward has gone a few times before and we didn't want Zeke to be out in the dust all day.  So mom and I packed up for a day-long safari to Arusha National Park (just 20 minutes from our house!), hired a tour guide and took our own car -equipped with 4 wheel drive- to save on costs.  We had an awesome day and were even able to go on a 'walking safari' for 1.5 hours, where we got up close and personal with a herd of buffalo, giraffe & baboons!  It was incredible.

Ready to leave the house (minus the baby)...

  2. Hey Burgess, you are most welcome to come visit! There's a great little hotel close to our house that would save on costs for your family (since paying $200-300/night at a tourist lodge can rack up quicly!). Keep me posted on your travel plans.

Edward is already back at the school and loving it. I will be working part-time for their partner safari company, which will allow me to mostly stay home with Z while he's still young. Ultimately, we will open up our own non-profit project, but that's down the road a bit.
